Position Summary:

The Product Specialist supports the Product Manager in all aspects of developing and maintaining the Walchem product lines of water treatment controllers, sensors and metering pumps. This includes driving product development & enhancement, providing technical support, evaluating profitability of sales opportunities, and developing & analyzing product performance metrics. The Product Specialist will work closely with marketing, sales, sales support, engineering and operations to ensure continuity in Walchem’s product offering and support

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIRED FUNCTIONS

  • Provide technical support for customer service and technical service departments.
  • Understands market specific sales channels, sales forecasting, production planning, pricing strategies, cost factors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop marketing plans, strategies and to conduct market research.
  • Supports and drives management of product customization requests from the field & implementation of product modifications (ECOs).
  • Provide copy and direction for the creation of brochures, webpages, advertisements, press releases and other sales tools.
  • Support Product Manager in designing and maintaining user instruction manuals for new and existing products.
  • Coordinate with sales engineers, applications specialists and distributors to further the sales effort.
  • Work with Product Manager and Marketing to develop and deliver product training programs.
  • Knowledge of advertising and promotion techniques.
  • Frequent communication with customers/distributors and field salespeople.
  • Works with manufacturing engineering to help coordinate product Bill of Materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Can interpret and articulate technical information appropriately to various constituencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or bachelor’s degree in Business/Sales and Marketing with technical aptitude and significant relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of process controls, sensors, metering pumps and their applications.
  • 3+ years of experience in the industrial process industry, with an emphasis on water treatment experience a plus.
  • High-level communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Team builder, collaborator, and can empower others to take initiative.
  • Insightful and articulate
  • Self Confident, ethical, sociable.
