Position Summary:
Electronics Product Design Engineering position within the Walchem Engineering Department working as part of a growing team responsible for the development and support of monitoring and control systems used in industrial markets such as utility water treatment, wastewater treatment, food and beverage, and plating. The Electrical Design Engineer will be a key member of the team to architect, design, develop, test and release new products with electrical, mechanical, and embedded software subsystems as well as continuing engineering to maintain and improve the performance and reliability of existing products. This is a great opportunity to exercise leadership and develop new and innovative products and learn a variety of skills, technologies, and methodologies as part of a research and development team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIRED FUNCTIONS
• Lead the development of new multi-processor embedded products and enhancements to improve existing products
• Working effectively with a team of embedded software developers, mechanical designers, electrical engineers, technicians, and management taking product design from requirements through the development of possible architectures
• Oversee Electrical Safety, EMC, NEMA/IP compliance and certifications
• Perform analog and digital design in multi-processor configurations with schematic entry and PCB layout. Oversee routing and board fabrication
• Develop vendor relationships, understand and manage part pricing, and negotiate with vendors for NRE projects
• Oversee Continuing Engineering of existing products to support component replacements and resolve vendor issues
• Support management for various engineering consulting, planning, mentorship, hiring and Internship and technician staff management

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical and computer engineering
• 15+ years design experience with analog and digital design and micro-controllers from concept to product release
• Proven track record of product and circuit design and development from start to end
• Highly motivated, resourceful and creative solution finder
• Several years direct experience with EMC and safety agency testing approvals
• Proven experience with costing, scheduling, and vendor management
• Experience performing lab testing using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers
• Understanding of how to design for safety approvals, EMC, ESD, etc.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering preferred
• Experience with manufacturing and product support
• Capability to code in embedded “C” and experience with Micro Controller ARM Cortex M4
• Ability to work in an environment with competing priorities; effective at dealing with change and ambiguity as business needs shift, demonstrating flexibility while ensuring compliance
• Experience managing and mentoring, scheduling, costing, and assessment of software implications
• Understanding of contract manufacturing, PCB assembly, and tools such as Altium and Solid Works
