Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Walchem Engineering Department. This role is part of a growing team responsible for the development and support of advanced monitoring and control systems used across industrial markets, including utility water treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, food and beverage processing, and metal plating.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in architecting, designing, developing, testing, and releasing new products that integrate electrical, mechanical, and embedded software subsystems. You will also contribute to sustaining engineering efforts to enhance the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of existing products.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative technologies and expand your skill set in a dynamic R&D environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to bring impactful solutions to market.

Location Requirement: This position is based in Holliston, MA. While occasional hybrid work is permitted, fully remote candidates will not be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIRED FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of software developers, mechanical designers, electrical engineers, and technicians to design and develop embedded sensing and control products.
  • Lead the architecture and design of new products, including analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout for embedded controllers and sensor interfaces—from requirements through to product release.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) initiatives to ensure seamless transition from prototype to high-volume production with contract manufacturing partners.
  • Ensure compliance with global Electrical Safety and EMC standards (e.g., UL, CE, FCC) and support the formal product certification process.
  • Manage component selection and validation, working directly with manufacturers and vendors to optimize performance, cost, and supply chain reliability.
  • Oversee sustaining engineering efforts for existing products, including component replacements and vendor issue resolution.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting broader engineering initiatives as a senior team member.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical and computer engineering.
  • 10+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and successfully launching electronic products into production.
  • Deep expertise in analog, digital, microcontroller and mixed-signal circuit design, including microcontrollers, power supplies, and sensor interfacing.
  • Proven proficiency with schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout using tools such as Altium.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment for testing and debugging, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
  • Strong understanding of EMC, ESD, and electrical safety design principles, with a successful track record of navigating regulatory approvals.
  • Experience working directly with contract manufacturers (CMs), managing PCBA costing, vendors and supporting products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in C for firmware development, particularly for hardware bring-up, validation, and debugging on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers or similar platforms
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, and creative in solving complex engineering challenges.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is a plus.
  • Experience writing, maintaining, and optimizing software drivers for production release, ensuring robust hardware integration, adherence to coding standards, and long-term maintainability.
