Software Engineer – Front-End Web Developer

Position Summary:

Front-End Web Developer position within the Walchem Engineering Department working as part of a growing team responsible for the development and support of monitoring and control systems used in industrial markets such as utility water treatment, wastewater treatment, food and beverage, and plating. The Web Developer will develop and maintain our web-based data management platform. This is a great opportunity to learn new technologies and develop new and innovative products as part of a dynamic research and development team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIRED FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, test, and maintain web applications and websites for Walchem’s Fluent software.  A cloud-based, water treatment management software.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to create user-friendly and visually appealing web pages.
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented code using HTML, CSS, Typescript, and other web technologies.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across various browsers and devices.
  • Stay up to date with emerging web technologies and industry trends.
  • This position requires full-time, on-site work at our Holliston, MA office.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a web developer or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web development languages.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries (e.g., JQuery, Angular,).
  • Familiarity with back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python) and databases (e.g., MySQL,).
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles.
  • Familiarity with software development tools and version control systems (e.g., Subversion, Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, and creative solution finder
  • Ability to work in an environment with competing priorities; effective at dealing with change and ambiguity as business needs shift, demonstrating flexibility while ensuring compliance

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and web services.
